Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

SPELLBOUND Written by Bill and Judy Premerlani Documentation by Bill & Judy Premerlani Spellbound is a machine language word game. The object is to find as many words as possible in a fixed time period (three minutes!). The computer can play and uses a 12,000 plus word dictionary. There are six levels of intelligence. Letters are constructed using sharp graphics that can be read at a distance, so that more people may participate. Letter scrambling is very thorough. Up to six people may play against each other with the computer as a seventh, if desired. Scores are maintained by the computer and the winner is declared after five rounds. Time remaining is displayed on the screen by an accurate interrupt driven timer that stops the game when time is up. When the computer plays, words can be 'highlighted' on the game diagram, displayed in normal letters at the bottom left side of the screen, and, if a line printer is connected, the words will be printed for hardcopy verification. The computer will keep the complete score. This is an excellent program for those searching for educational programs for their TRS-80. Spellbound is written in a combination of Fortran and machine language and the complete source code is available for an additional $10.00. Spellbound sells for only $19.95 on disk.

NEW FROM TAS: SPELLBOUND This program is a natural by-product after the recent spurt of spelling checkers. Spellbound is a disk based dictionary program that will offer you excellent competition when playing Boggle (copyright Parker Brothers). Up to six persons can compete, and/or you can play the computer. Spellbound takes just over a minute to search its 12,000 word dictionary for all possible combinations of letters for any given game. (YOU should be so fast!). The computer has six skill levels, keeps time and score. Spellbound requires a Model I or III disk system. Sorry, but you MUST specify which version you want. Including the dictionary, there just isn't room for both versions on the same diskette. (If you wish both versions, add $3 for the extra disk.) This program was written in a combination of Fortran and Z80. The complete source code (both languages) can be purchased for $10 when ordering Spellbound. Source code comes on a Model I diskette only (may be CONVERTed). Great for parties or entertaining yourself. Spellbound is $19.95 on diskette.

Spellbound [Spelling Practice for Students]MISSING
Spell It Right Spellbound provides spelling practice for students. It lets parents and teachers create a disk file of words displayed on screen one at a time, with prompts asking the student to spell each word. Letters typed by the student appear on the screen below the selected word. Misspelled words are recalled after the lesson, and the challenge level can be set for the student to spell a word from memory. Another section scrambles words and asks the student to put the letters in the correct order. Spellbound is not copy-protected. Written for Level II machines, the series are Math, Spelling, Topics, Earth and Rollbook. The Math Series consists of three programs for individual or group work, designed to help students increase their speed and accuracy in basic arithmetic. The three programs in the Spelling Series drill students on rote memorization of spelling words. The Topics Series, four programs, allows teachers to test students on any subject, using short phrases or single words as answers. The program will accept different words with the same meaning for correct answers. Earth is a video animation of the earth rotating on its axis. Rollbook is a disk utility for teachers. Spider Hunt Spelling GameMISSING
Spider Terror Gamco Industries' Spider Hunt Spelling game ($39.95) for the Models III and 4 teaches spelling and includes student and program management systems as well. The student becomes a spider hunter whose goal is to catch as many spiders as possible in a set amount of time (one to 10 minutes). You can also set a level of difficulty (1-5). Four words appear at the top of the screen, each with a spider descending from it. Some of the words are spelled correctly and some are misspelled. Students move the Spider Hunt Spelling teaches spelling the fun way. spider hunter from word to word and identify each word as correctly spelled or misspelled. If they answer correctly the spider falls into a sack. A bank of 400 words (200 spelled correctly and 200 misspelled) permanently resides on the disk.
