Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive

Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova

Telephone IndexMISSING

Molimerx Ltd

TELEPHONE INDEX - AN ADDRESS ETC. FILE SYSTEM This program is essentially a dedicated disk data filing system, the purpose of which is to enable the user to file away on disk and thereafter access the following information: company name, contact, address, telephone number and a code. Full functions are included for creating, amending, deleting and searching records quickly and easily. An INSTRING function is used during the search, so precise spelling is not required. In order to read a record previously filed, it is only necessary to type the name of the company and the data appropriate to that company will be displayed. If more than one company exists with the same name, then a list will be displayed and the user is asked to make a selection. After the particular record required has been found and displayed on the screen, any part of it may be easily amended by typing in the new data. Records may be deleted. The search function is comprehensive and permits the user to use any of the fields in the record as a key. In other words, it is not only possible to search for all the Smith's, but also to search for, for instance, all companies in London. This is particularly useful when used with the code field, as a user can construct his own code and pull out any company on file with that code. It is possible for the user to change the field names quite easily so that the program can be made to fit his own circumstances, but if a customer has got this in mind, he might feel that the more generalized database programs shown elsewhere in the catalogue would be a better choice.

If You've Got the Money, Honey, I've Got the Time Two new programs, Telling Time and Money, combine guided learning drills, an arcade-style reward game, and a program- and student-management system. Telling Time contains lessons that work with digital and analog time recognition at four difficulty levels: hour, half-hour, quarter-hour, and five-minute intervals. Money trains students to count money, determine whether or not they have enough to buy particular items, and count change. When a student has correctly answered a set number of problems, he or she can play the arcade game as a reward. Teachers can use the system to hold up to 200 names and view, print, or delete all or individual files. The Model III/4 and MS-DOS versions of each program cost $44.95 ($54.95 with backup disk, and $164.95 for the class pack). Ten Pin Bowling

tenpin81.zip

TENPINS By John Allen John Allen works his machine language magic again! With the realistic action and sounds made famous by his bestselling 'PINBALL' and 'BASKETBALL' arcade games, TENPINS now brings all the thrills of championship bowling to your TRS-80 model I or III. From one to four players participate, and the program automatically senses the skill of each player. Beginners can simply position the ball and 'roll' it while more skilled players can vary the force, roll a curve, and cause it to spin as it heads for the pins. All this-plus 3-D graphics and sound effects-adds up to a realistic and thoroughly challenging bowling game. Scoring, pinsetting and ball return are all automatic, and you can view the entire scoresheet at any time. TENPINS even has factors to simulate the imperfections found in bowling lanes, adding even more realism-and sometimes frustration-to the game. It's almost as hard to roll a perfect 300 score in TENPINS as it is in real bowling, but it sure is fun trying! Available for only $14.95 for 16K tape version, $20.95 for 32K disk. LIBRARY 100 The LIBRARY 100 from TBS is without doubt the greatest software bargain ever. Released in November 1978, it has sold thousands in 44 countries. Written for the TRS-80, LIBRARY 100 contains 100 programs on five tapes. Most of the programs can be run on a 4K, Level II computer. Designed to be a basic computer library, it provides a series of programs over a broad range of topics. All programs but one are written in BASIC and can easily be modified to suit your own purposes. 'The program mix is eclectric, interesting, and curious If I had a Level II TRS-80 and one or more grade-school children, or if I were a hardcore software collector, or if I had little software and wanted to get a lot of it with a minimum of bother, I'd buy the Library 100.' Stephen Gray, Creative Computing, April, 1979. ' a basic computer library for the hobbyist, parent or businessman.' Kilobaud Microcomputing, December 1978. The programs are spread over five general categories; Finance, Education, Graphics, Home and Games. As an added bonus, the LIBRARY 100 contains Tiny PILOT, a condensed version of the high level language primarily used in education. It is perfect for teachers, parents, students and sales trainees. PerCom Data Company Copyright (c) 1979 11/19/79 TERM80 - A Terminal Simulator for the TRS-80 (tm) TERM80 is a special program designed to turn your TRS-80 into a full duplex ASCII terminal. It is written in LEVEL II BASIC and loads a machine-language program for terminal operation. Some of the important features of TERM80 are as follows: . All RS-232 options are set through the keyboard rather than the switches. Terminal characteristics may be changed/checked at any time, even while on-line! Terminal operation is true full duplex - keys may be struck while characters are being received with no character loss. Terminal operation is both upper and lower case, with shift lock key. If the TRS-80 has been modified for lower case display, the CRT display driver is modified automatically. All ASCII characters may be transmitted. Any key held down more than 1.5 seconds will automatically repeat. The BREAK key performs a true break function. Received data may optionally be echoed to the printer. This option may be turned on and off at the keyboard while data is being received. Provision is made for optional handshake to insure no character loss when operating above 1200 baud. This feature is unique to TERM80. TERM80 is supplied on disk for only $24.95. Turn your TRS-80 (tm) into a terminal today!
