Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

TRACKER - A TRACE PROGRAM FOR MACHINE LANGUAGE PROGRAMMERS TRACKER is a dynamic simulator trace which finds its most common application in the debugging of machine language programs. It carries out the following functions: . Load programs successively from Disk and trace them . Simulate the runs of machine code program seeing, at each step, the effect on the registers . Send trace output to the printer. Trace the main structure of the program only by confining the output to jump type instructions . Single step through programs. Run programs untraced, subject to return at a breakpoint. Examine and alter memory. The program operates in three modes, Command Mode, Trace Mode, and Display Mode. The features available in Command Mode are as follows: . Load the program from disk . Set the contents of the registers. Pop the stack. Push the stack. Tracker, incidently, maintains a separate internal stack for the object code. Change to display mode. Set breakpoints. These may be anywhere in memory, even in ROM. Set breakpoints and the program counter, then run program untraced until a breakpoint is encountered. Enter trace mode and run. Enter trace mode, single step and pause. The following functions are available in both Command and Trace Modes. The first four operate as toggles, i.e. they turn the facility on or off, depending upon its present position. Turn the printer on or off. Pause automatically after every fifteen lines or run continuously. Run the trace at fast speed. When this function is off, the trace runs at about two lines per second otherwise as fast as the display can scroll. Limit the display or printout to jump instructions. Display a line showing the state of the programs counter registers, the instruction it point to, and the contents of the other registers before the instruction if obeyed. Display the contents of alternative registers. The following commands are available in Trace mode: . Pause. Resume tracing. Single step and pause. Go to Command mode. In the display mode, a display is shown of 256 bytes of memory starting at a chosen address. Hexadecimal, and ASCII are displayed. Lower case is converted to upper case. Graphics and control characters are replaced by full stops. The commands available are as follows: . Advance one page. Retreat one page. Move to a specified new page. Return to Command mode. Change memory starting at a specified byte. Replace a current byte. Move to next byte without change. Move to next line. End changes. TRAKCESS Written by Roxton Baker Documentation by Roxton Baker TRAKCESS is the most powerful TRS-80 disk access utility yet written. It was written (with as much software assistance as is practical) to bring every capability of the TRS-80's 179X Floppy Disk Controller (FDC) under direct user control. Roxton has combined these capabilities into powerful, 'intelligent' functions whose only limitations are those of the machine in general, or of the FDC in particular. TRAKCESS is powerful precisely because it works on the most elementary levels. It has been padded around with lots of interactive software and utility functions for efficient use. TRAKCESS will help you make up your own tracks and format a blank disk with them. Disk identification features such as (S)canning track sectors and (L)ocating disk sectors are at your fingertips. (C)opy track and (D)uplicate disk commands are capable of analyzing many widely different disk formats and duplicating them, far removed from the primitive FDC functions. There are numerous, 'fun', and powerful commands included with TRAKCESS, so ALWAYS be careful when working with master diskettes. The Model I allows you to access the 1771 floppy disk controller commands and Model III accesses the 1791 floppy disk controller commands. The Model III version allows you to toggle between single and double density and analyze diskettes in both modes. TRAKCESS Written by Roxton Baker Documentation by Roxton Baker TRAKCESS is the most powerful TRS-80 disk access utility yet written. It was written (with as much software assistance as is practical) to bring every capability of the TRS-80's 179X Floppy Disk Controller (FDC) under direct user control. Roxton has combined these capabilities into powerful, 'intelligent' functions whose only limitations are those of the machine in general, or of the FDC in particular. TRAKCESS is powerful precisely because it works on the most elementary levels. It has been padded around with lots of interactive software and utility functions for efficient use. TRAKCESS will help you make up your own tracks and format a blank disk with them. Disk identification features such as (S)canning track sectors and (L)ocating disk sectors are at your fingertips. (C)opy track and (D)uplicate disk commands are capable of analyzing many widely different disk formats and duplicating them, far removed from the primitive FDC functions. There are numerous, 'fun', and powerful commands included with TRAKCESS, so ALWAYS be careful when working with master diskettes. The Model I allows you to access the 1771 floppy disk controller commands and Model III accesses the 1791 floppy disk controller commands. The Model III version allows you to toggle between single and double density and analyze diskettes in both modes. The 179x Western Digital specification sheets are included (reprinted with permission). TRAKCESS for the Model I is $24.95 and Model III is $29.95.

TRANSFER FUNCTION ANALYZER (available for all computers) TRANSFER FUNCTION ANALYZER is a frequency spectrum analysis package designed with the engineer in mind. It applies the concept of the Fourier integral transform to an input data set to provide a frequency domain representation of the function approximated by that input data. TFA is based on DYNACOMP's popular FOURIER ANALYZER, but includes special data handling features. It also presents the results in conventional engineering terms (decibels, log-frequency). The user may save and recall both the input data file and previously calculated results. Data files may be loaded (from cassette, diskette, or disk), added to, deleted from, and generally edited. As with FOURIER ANALYZER, the input data may be plotted before the calculations are started. The frequency domain results may also be plotted, as well as saved (to be later recalled for new plots). In addition, the analyses are easily separated with different frequency parameters without re-entering the data. The transformed results are displayed in conventional engineering form. The amplitude points returned are in decibels (DB) relative to the peak value (0 DB). The phase is in degrees. The frequency transform is calculated in equal log-frequency intervals as is common practice in Acoustical and Electronic Engineering. The frequency results may be optionally plotted. When the amplitude plot is performed, it is in decibel/log-frequency format. This permits easy identification of the characteristic 'roll-off' in frequency response. For example, a 9 DB/octave (e.g., 10 log (F(W))) straight line roll-off of a three pole filter is immediately apparent from the plot. TFA was originally designed as part of a consulting assignment involving the analysis of amplifier transfer function. It is, therefore, a program which has been tested in an actual commercial application. In this particular case, the output data corresponding to the real time response of an amplifier to an input pulse ('delta function') was used directly as input to TFA, and the frequency amplitude results directly gave the transfer function for the amplifier. Whereas DYNACOMP's FOURIER ANALYZER is well suited to the basic science and educational fields as well as many engineering applications, TRANSFER FUNCTION ANALYZER is a key tool for the electronics and acoustics engineer involved in the analysis of limited duration signals.
