Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive

Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova

MONTEZUMA MICRO WOW! ANOTHER NEW PRODUCT FROM MONTE PRESENTS MONTE'S TOOLKIT $49 REQUIRES: Montezuma Micro CP/M 2.2 version 2.21+ Monte's Toolkit is a collection of utilities that will prove useful to every owner of Montezuma Micro CP/M (you all are owners, aren't you?). It's a disk full of programs that perform functions that are difficult, cumbersome or expensive to do any other way. Monte has tried, in his own way, to briefly explain each function for you below. Read on and be saved. DOUBLECROSS allows unlimited file transfers between CP/M, IBM-DOS and Model 3/4 LDOS /TRSDOS with unsurpassed ease and speed. In fact, you can move just about anything from any disk to any other disk but you might have to make changes for program operation. Lotus 123 just flat won't run on your Model 3 and I doubt that you could ever modify Scripsit enough to run on the IBM. Simple menus guide you through the operation with minimal keystrokes. Just tag the files you want in the directory display and go. You won't get doublecrossed with DBLCROSS. FREEFORM formats and backs up Model 3/4 LDOS/TRSDOS and IBM MS & PC- DOS (versions 1.x, 2.x and 3.x), both single side and double side plus there is a special 'clone' copy when you just don't know or care what you have. Just insert a disk and copy away. All you have to know about the disk is how to get it into the drive. The Analysis feature lets you look at and print the actual structure of a disk - even the ones with 'funny' formats. WSPR lets you print to almost any printer using almost any control code. It's nearly magic and does a whole lot more than I can talk about here including letting you print anything your printer can print. FILEFIX gives you the ability to 'fix' your 'files' by adding line-feeds when your files are going from CP/M or IBM-DOS to LDOS/TRSDOS or take them away if you are transferring the other way. You can remove the control codes from a WordStar document thereby converting it to a non-document file. The fix will also fix up Scripsit files so they can be used by CP/M and IBM-DOS based wordprocessors (you know - the real ones). All this is accomplished with the use of simple menus and boy, it is fast. SYS2M requires 128K and our CP/M. The CCP and the BDOS are moved to drive M and the BIOS is modified to allow a Warm Boot from Drive M. So what you say. Well, you still have to have a disk in drive A but it no longer has to have the CP/M system resident. It can be anything. This little jewel copies frequently used programs to drive M and searches there first for all program requests resulting in much faster program loading. Slick isn't it? AUTO is a little goodie that lets you issue multiple commands from the command line. Eliminates the pain of Submit. As in all the other parts of MONTE'S TOOLBOX, complete and comprehensive instructions are included and it's available right now.

SysDmpMISSING

SYSDMP - STORE BASIC PROGRAMS IN SYSTEM FORMAT PLUS VARIABLES This is a very useful utility which will save a Basic program to tape in a form which can be accessed by the SYSTEM command. But it goes far beyond that, for it will also save the database being used by the Basic program, that is to say all current values of variables, arrays and strings together with the contents of the Stack. It will also save to tape (optional) the contents of the display at the time of the save. Finally, it saves any resident machine code programs. A Keyboard Debounce program is automatically included. A very important feature is that at the end of the dump to cassette, the computer is returned to the same state that it was in prior to the start of the dump and if the Basic program was running at that time, it will continue from the point at which it was suspended. When the tape is subsequently reloaded using the SYSTEM command, the computer is again restored to the state at which it was in immediately prior to the dump and the Basic program, with its database intact, will continue from the point at which it was originally suspended. If the display contents were included in the dump, the display is completely restored to its original state and even the cursor is reset to its former position. If the display contents were not included in the dump, then after the reload the screen is cleared and the cursor is positioned at the top left-hand corner. The usefulness of this utility is evident from the foregoing description, but one factor which may not be evident is that all System tapes are loaded with a checksum facility which, of course, makes sure that the load was successful. Basic programs do not normally carry out this checksum. It is hard to give a list of the applications of this program as they are so wide, but in general terms the user has the option to stop the running of a program and save everything to tape so that he may return at a later time and be able to pick-up exactly where he left off. One obvious application is the storing of lengthy games or application programs. There is now no excuse for staying up all night in order to complete the running of a particular program! Further applications that come to mind are in the debugging of Basic programs. Quite often a user is part way through debugging a program, but wishes to put the program 'to bed' with the variables intact. This he can now do. SYSDMP is loaded as a System program itself and resides at the top of the memory. It only occupies about 500 bytes. Once loaded it can be called whenever required.

SysGen [LDOS System Configuration Saver][Part of LDOS Utility Pack]

Leslie Mikesell

M1 · 1981 · CMD

sysgenlm.zip

LDOS Users! A special utility package just for YOU: DRIVE-5 Four drives not enough? DRIVE-5 is a memory based disk emulator which allows you to configure a fifth drive IN MEMORY! No moving parts, so access is FAST! In a two drive system, FORMAT and BACKUP can be placed on DRIVE-5 (with /SYS modules) to allow multiple backups with less disk swapping. LOWDUMP LOWDUMP allows you to DUMP files from anywhere in memory, including ROM and video RAM! LOWDUMP allows all parameters as the LDOS DUMP command, including ASCII, for dumping files without loader information present. SYSGEN SYSGEN/CMD allows you to save one or more SYSGEN files as normal /CMD files. Keep several configurations on the same disk and reload as necessary by simply typing the filename. Especially useful when the preferred configuration consumes so much memory that large programs will not execute properly. SYSGEN/CMD may also be executed from a running BASIC program. When the resultant /CMD file is executed, the BASIC program will continue with the next statement, all program variables intact! UNREPAIR Model I TRSDOS cannot read LDOS disks due to the F8 DAM used for directory sectors. UNREPAIR will rewrite the directory track of a single density disk using the FA DAM that will be recognized by Model I TRSDOS. UNREPAIR should run with any Model I DOS and the Radio Shack E/I. An extra BONUS! The TAS LDOS Utility pack includes Z80 source code (on disk) of most of the above utilities (the most informative). The LDOS Utility Pak is $49.95. This package was written by Les Mikesell.

SysGen [Restructure ND2.1]MISSING

Micro Data Systems

SYSGEN This program allows you to restructure NEWDOS 2.1 into a configuration of your choice. Is your disk drive capable of using 77 tracks? Well SYSGEN will change NEWDOS 2.1 into a 77 track DOS. SYSGEN will allow you setup your system so that you can now get at the lower memory addresses you've been kept from copying or examining. SYSGEN will modify NEWDOS 2.1 so that your disk drives can run at one of three speeds, slow (what your running at now), fast (about twice as fast), fastest (seek time is 5 msec). This function is great for people with MPI or Vista disk drives. Why not run them at the speeds they are designed to handle. NOTE: Shugart drives will only go to the fast speed. There are far more features to SYSGEN than can be listed here. SYSGEN is priced at $35.95, and with that price were the only game in town.

LEAVE THE STONE AGE BEHIND! MACHINE LANGUAGE BUSINESS SOFTWARE DEMO DISKS DEMO DISKS SYSTEM II FOR TRS-80 MODEL III FAST-NO FILE HANDLING! FULLY INTEGRATED! STOCK CONTROL SALES LEDGER PURCHASE LEDGER NOMINAL LEDGER . INCLUDES INVOICING AND STATEMENTS It constitutes, we feel, a landmark or breakthrough in TRS-80 software in that it is the first business or accountancy suite of programs that have been specifically written for the Model III, in machine language. This approach enables the user to take advantage of the speed of the language and free himself from the drawbacks which Basic file handling would otherwise impose upon him. In SYSTEM II there are no files as such! Machine language programs are obviously different to Basic programs, but do not be misled into confusing pure machine language with compiled Basic which, although it appears to be machine language, is in fact still subject to the restrictions of the original Basic source code. SYSTEM II requires a great deal of explanation and customers who are interested are urged to request the descriptive brochure, as it is quite impossible to describe the suite in these pages. One final thing we would like to emphasize is that a large number of sales ledgers do not include provision for integral invoicing, although most of them provide for statements. SYSTEM II includes the generation of invoices and statements within the Sales Ledger program. As far as we are aware there is no other suite of programs available for our machines combining the ease of use, sophistication and comprehensiveness of SYSTEM II. MOLYMERX has literally searched the business world for an accounting system which is the very best available and were in fact in the process of having software written for us in COBOL in Australia. SYSTEM II has halted this as we think this software is at the top of the heap. DEMO DISKS - Available at $49.95 each, applicable against purchase. Memory Requirement 48K TRS 80 Disk Model 3 Only
