MAILIT FOR SMALL BUSINESSES, CLUBS AND PERSONAL MAILING This is a general purpose program which essentially services a mailing list comprised of up to 200 names and addresses on a single disk drive. It is somewhat more than a mailing list program as it provides the following features. Customer file creation and amendment . Letter creation and amendment for mail merge facilities. Customer file sort. Reports customer list with missing numbers customer list in alphabetic sequence labels standard and non standard selection on all reports using a reference field Invoice printing on A4 stationery Each entry on the mailing file can contain the following information: name, three address lines, postcode, telephone number, a reference letter address form, and, finally, miscellaneous information. Complete access to the files is given, they may be created, extended, entries may be inserted, amended or deleted. Files for 200 customers may be contained on a stripped down system disk. Only one disk drive, incidentally, is required. Instructions are included as to changing the program so as to increase the maximum number of customers allowed per disk. Each customer file contains a name (25 characters), address line 1 (30 characters), address line 2 (25 characters), address line 3 (20 characters), postcode (8 characters), telephone number (30 characters), reference invoice number (6 characters). 41 bytes are also used for general information, part of it housekeeping, but also 19 bytes for a letter address form and 20 bytes for miscellaneous. The letter address form is only used for letter printing and is the form by which you wish to address that customer, hence 'Mr. Harding' inserted in the address form will result in letters addressed to 'Dear Mr. Harding'. The 20 byte miscellaneous area is never printed, it does, however, appear on the screen and can be used for any internal purposes. Mailit, therefore, is a general purpose customer service program which enables a record to be kept of each customer's details; enables standard letters to be mail/merged; invoices to be printed and generally carries out the other chores associated with a customer list. It is, as previously mentioned, particularly recommended for small businesses and has the particular advantage of enabling a number of functions which hitherto could be carried out by a number of programs to be amalgamated into one compact customer service program.

'MAILLIST' A MAILING LIST DATABASE SYSTEM for the TRS-80 Models I, II, and III MAILLIST is ideally suited for organization mailing lists, personal addressbook functions, or mail lists based on dates such as reminders for birthdates or dues payable. MAILLIST uses an ISAM-based file system to minimize disk access times. A database consists of a master file, and up to four index files. This allows the primary file to be maintained in sorted order by name, zipcode, and up to two dates. File access for update/delete functions is by name. Duplicate last names are automatically handled by the system. The ZIPCODE and DATE files reference the master file for data. The DATEs significance is specified by the user. MAILLIST allows up to 30 attributes to be specified. These attributes are referenced symbolically and are defined by the user. They are used in record selection when generating reports or mailing labels. MAILLIST supports 9-digit zipcodes and 3-digit state codes. Reports and labels may be ordered by NAME, ZIP, DATE1, or DATE2. Printing may be started or ended at any point in the list. Records are selected by attribute combinations specified when the report is requested. A mask and value selection mechanism permits database query access. MAILLIST capacity is 600 names for Model I, 1200 names for Model III, more than 3500 names for Model II, and more than 38000 names for a Model II with the RACET Hard/Soft Disk System. Main Idea Gold Rush [2 Player Adventure Game]MISSING
Two for Education Gamco Industries Inc. has released two programs for the Model III and 4 that should help in the classroom. Test Generator lets teachers enter up to 500 questions and then use them to design tests. Questions can be fill in the blank, matching, multiple choice, true/false, and short answer/essay. You can enter them according to classifications such as chapter, skill, or subject. To design a test, you can choose specific questions or ask the computer to randomly select them. You can mix question types and classifications, and you can edit and print tests and questions. Test Generator sells for $49.95, or $64.95 with back-up disk. Main Idea Gold Rush is a two-player adventure game that provides drill in determining the main idea of a paragraph. It simulates a journey west during the Gold Rush; players move by correctly identifying the main idea of a paragraph they are given to read. The first player to reach San Francisco wins. The program also includes a student-management system that records student names, raw scores, and the percentage correct. The system holds up to 200 student files in alphabetical order. There are two versions of the game: one written at the third- and fourth-grade level, and one for the fifth- and sixth-grades. Either version sells for $39.95, or $54.95 with back-up disk.
