Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive

Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova

Jabbertalky

Norm Lane / Automated Simulations

jabrtalk.zip

Jabbertalky Designed by Norm Lane Jabbertalky, the programmable word game, thrusts you into a world of language games. Two games-Alphagrammar and Cryptogrammer-are already programmed into Jabbertalky. Each is based on the program's ability to generate an infinite variety of random sentences that are grammatically correct and whose meanings range from the poetically profound to the lusciously ludicrous. Alphagrammar is not merely your ordinary game of word unscrambling; it's your extraordinary game of unscrambling an entire sentence. Cryptogrammar serves you sentences, in which each letter of the alphabet is substituted for another letter. This cornucopia of cunningly contrived cryptograms produces a myriad of mind-bending, code-breaking challenges. One to four players (more, if you have the memory) take turns on each game before time runs out. Eight levels of difficulty make the games challenging and fun for both seven-year-olds and expert linguists alike. Jabbergrammar gives you the tools to create even more sentences. Jabbergrammar can be described as an editor-but it is more. It is a language language. It lets you add, change, or delete words, creating entirely new and extraordinary vocabulary lists. When you play Jabbertalky, you can always have the last word.

Graphic Map Adventure from Computer Simulations These may not be a true 'adventure' since they use maps, combat screens and merchant charts, but they are beyond words. Dark Kingdom has four maps where your goal is to defeat the roving monsters, collect gold and silver plus enough fame to combat the evil lord in real life. Lunar Encounter pits you as the protector of the moon colony against the alien force and their leader. Jedi Knight requires you to seek fame and fortune starting as a lowly knight in the last days of the Republic. Struggle with the Lord Vader with your light saber. Mercenary Commander has you as a soldier of Maximillian, the Mexican King. Try to keep the villages under French rule and put down the rebellion. $14.95 each.

Jet Fighter Pilot The Jet Fighter Pilot package takes you as close to real combat flying as possible without pulling G's. In this brilliantly realistic simulation, you become the pilot of a high performance, twin turbo-jet fighter. Total control of the aircraft is yours. At the start of your mission, you'll go through an entire engine start procedure before your flight (provided your ground maintenance is up to par). Your takeoff will be from either the deck of an aircraft carrier (via a steam catapult) or from an airfield. All controls respond the same as they would on a real jet fighter. You'll have to constantly monitor your display and make adjustments to your throttle, flaps, rudder and air spoilers. You decide when to retract flaps, landing gear and release the auxiliary fuel drop-tanks. Your on-board navigational computer will direct you to your selected airport. The Glideslope/Localizer information will aid you in approaching and landing on an aircraft carrier deck or airfield. The Weapons Control Computer will arm your missiles, provide you with the range and bearing to a target, and tell you when to attack. And, if things should get a little too hot, you have an ejection seat command for egress. For a carrier-based landing, you'll have to deploy your tail hook. For a land-based landing, you'll need reverse thrust and your drag chute. After you've flown a few missions with the Jet Fighter Pilot package, you'll know you've earned your wings. Order No. 0159R $14.95 Instant Software PETERBOROUGH, N.H. 03458 603-924-7296

JKLGrafx [Graphics Screen Print]MISSING

Molimerx Ltd

JKLGRAFX - GRAPHICS SCREEN PRINT One of the most annoying things about screen dumps to a line printer is that any graphics existing on the screen may come out in a number of different ways, but none of them will be a true representation of the actual graphics on the screen. So far as we know, it is impossible for an author to come up with a system that would fulfill this need and would be compatible with all disk operating systems. JKLGRAFX is compatible with LDOS using either 5.1.3 or 5.1.4 on the Model I and the Model III. The printer, of course, must be a dot-matrix, dot addressable type. It must also be able to interpret the following commands: - Esc, 'A', N Esc, '2' Esc, 'K', N1, N2 Esc, 'L', N1, N2 Set linespacing to N/72 inch Reset linespacing to 1/6 inch Set graphics data field, single density Set graphics data field, double density All the normal LDOS rules apply to the entering of parameters for this program. The parameter HEAVY has been added to differentiate between single and double density graphics. JKLGRAFX occupies only 220 bytes more than the standard KI/DVR.

JobmasterMISSING

Dynacomp

JOBMASTER (TRS-80 only) JOBMASTER is designed for supervisors, managers, and engineers who are responsible for managing small production and assembly programs. Typical examples would include machine shops, sheet metal shops, mechanical assembly areas, and electronic assembly areas. Practically any business involved in manufacturing or assembling a product can make use of JOBMASTER. The JOBMASTER program allows the user to set up a data file describing each individual operation in the shop area, including the station, contract or project, task name and description, date, employee name and I.D., and shift. Also included is a cost breakdown which includes labor, material, and work station costs, as well as hours worked, projected production and actual production. Full data file editing capability is provided, as well as a very useful automatic updating command which provides easy data file maintenance and permits changes and updates to the data file to be made with great rapidity. In operation, the program provides full sorting and searching capabilities, allowing the file to be sorted by any data category, as well as limited and global searching for keyword matches. Both text and numeric data may be searched and sorted. A major feature of the program is the file evaluation command. This command can be used to compute costs and man-hours in a variety of ways. As an example, computation can take place on a station-by-station basis, a contract-by-contract basis, an employee-by-employee basis, or a date-by-date basis. In fact, the evaluation can be keyed to any of eight possible data categories. Costing information is provided on an item by item basis, as well as being totalized by category item. The evaluation function features a pre-sort option, which allows the file to be sorted by a user selected category prior to the actual evaluation. This feature, along with the category selection options of the evaluation, provide a great selection of choices with regard to data presentation and evaluation results (approximately 64 variations). JOBMASTER also provides a schedule generating feature. By appropriate selection of category, 8 different types of schedules can be created, such as a day-by-day schedule, contract-by contract schedule, employee-by-employee schedule, and so forth. Another feature of the JOBMASTER program is the ability to generate cash flow/man loading projections. Again, a number of options are provided to generate cash flow based on a number of possible categories, including contract-by-contract and day-by-day projections. JOBMASTER's versatility lies in its ability to evaluate and output the contents of the data file in a number of different ways, providing the user with a maximum amount of data in a user-selected format. The user is thus provided with rapid access to vital information to aid in the scheduling, planning, and control functions of the production area. JOBMASTER operates as a user-friendly program, providing menu-driven commands and prompts for all data inputs. Several convenience and data-verification features are also incorporated into the program to provide for ease of use. Error-trapping is provided to prevent data loss in the event of disk errors or similar problems. Requires 48K, disk drive and printer. Price: $69.95

Journey to Doom CastleMISSING

Rupert Corporation

TRS 80 DOOM CASTLE Journey to Doom Castle to find treasure, weapons and monsters and then try to get back 'Alive' to spend your loot. This is the fourth program for Rupert Corp. and we feel it is the best yet. We like to think of it as an action movie. The object of this game is the same as it is in life, to survive and have some fun along the way. When it comes to fantasy role playing campaigns you must set aside some time (one hour to infinity) to clear your mind of all the mundane duty of everyday life and just get into the game. Smoke them if you have them and/or some wine, whatever. If you have ever played Dungeons and Dragons or Tunnels and Trools or read J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings you've got the idea. If you like this one you will love the next one! We also have Pet programs. Rupert Corporation 6701 Simms Street Hollywood, Florida 33024
