Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive

Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova

HANNIBAL - NOT FOR THE FAINTHEARTED Before we attempt to describe this program, we should mention that it is a serious war games program from Dr Bodley-Scott, who was the co-author of EMPEROR. It is a long game and a complicated one. For this reason, provision is included to save on cassette a partly played game. Basically, HANNIBAL is an authentic, historical simulation of the Second Punic War, the epic struggle between Rome and Carthage for supremacy of the Ancient World. It is a game of considerable strategic skill for two players. The game starts in 220 B.C and each year has three campaigning moves, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Taxes are collected and troops paid during the Winter break. In each move, both players take their turn, whereafter the results of any conflicts are determined. Included in the program are maps of Italy, Spain, Africa and Sicily, which although in different scales are continuous with one another. The players at all stages must take into account various troop movements, treasury reports, recruitment and wars. An historical description of the period accompanies the documentation. Hardware Interface Kit for LDOS 5.3 [Original]

hikld534.zip

Hardware Interface Kit If you are running LDOS 5.3 on a Model 4, the LDOS Hardware Interface Kit will allow you access to your Model 4 hardware features while using LDOS 5.3. Here's what you get with this economically priced kit. [1] KI4/DVR - This is a keyboard driver replacement for KI/DVR. With it installed, the <ctrl> key is used instead of <shift arrow=''>; the <caps> key is used instead of <shift-0>; and the three function keys generate values for both unshifted and shifted activations. You still get the powerful type ahead facility and the screen print function.</shift-0></caps></shift-0></ctrl> [2] SET2RAM/CMD - This utility switches your machine from the Model III ROM mode to the Model III RAM mode. This recovers some low-memory space by doing away with the cassette routines. It also adds two powerful memory management facilities. The @BANK handler provides the same bank switching capability as TRSDOS 6 for direct program control of external memory banks. The @EXMEM extended memory handler allows for easy programming of both character and page I/O from/to memory banks. [3] MemDISK/DCT - This is a RAM disk which uses the facilities of SET2RAM in order to provide a one or two bank memory drive - the same as TRSDOS 6. With it you can create another 'disk' drive of up to 63K. [4] BANKER/CMD - A utility to manage bank utilization. All four modules come fully documented and are ready to install into your LDOS 5.3 system using a Model 4 computer. A 128K machine is only required for MemDISK/DCT and the memory management facility. Harmonic AnalyzerMISSING

Dynacomp

HARMONIC ANALYZER (available for all computers) HARMONIC ANALYZER is the third in DYNACOMP's series of Fourier transform software packages. Whereas FOURIER ANALYZER and TRANSFER FUNCTION ANALYZER (TFA) were designed with limited duration signals in mind, HARMONIC ANALYZER is specific to repetitive wave forms (cyclic processes). All the data entry, storage, retrieval, and editing features of TFA have been included, as well as the signal and transform plotting functions. The Fourier integral has been replaced with a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) routine which is the essence of the harmonic analysis. A cubic spline interpolation procedure has been added so that the user may transform irregularly spaced data. Also, the data need not be entered in temporal order; it is sorted before being transformed. The spline interpolation and sorting features are unique to HARMONIC ANALYZER and will be appreciated by those familiar with other FFT programs which require the data to be both in order and evenly spaced. The spline interpolation scheme was in particular chosen over others to minimize the unwanted interpolation oscillation ('ringing') associated with abrupt signal changes, such as square wave steps. The FFT employed is a base-2 algorithm; that is, the number of data points must be an even power of 2. This places a small restriction on the input data set, but increases the speed of the transform calculation. HARMONIC ANALYZER is a program which should be in the software library of every scientist, engineer, or experimenter who deals with repeating waveforms. A 16 page manual is included. Requires 16K of program memory (Atari version requires 24K). Price: $29.95 Cassette $33.95 Diskette $36.45 8 inch CP/M Disk Sample display (Atari):

Hartforth Forth Compiler 5 v1.4a

A M Graham

M1 · 1983 · CMD

hrtfrth5.zip

FORTH Compiler --- HartFORTH [DOS 6 M-21-071][DOS 5 M-20-071] HartFORTH is a full FORTH that conforms to the 79-STANDARD. The Model I/III version is an indirect threaded version; the DOS 6 version is a direct threaded implementation providing greater execution speed of 10%-40% depending on the details of the actual program. The kernal contains some additional useful words and utilities which turn HartFORTH into a full-fledged development system. HartFORTH is designed to run under an operating system which is totally transparent to the programmer or user. The virtual Memory that it accesses for storage and retrieval purposes is a normal DOS file that is requested by the FORTH system when it is first entered. Doing this has several advantages in that it provides for FORTH files to be used in other language application programs and vice-versa. Enhancements have been built into the kernal in the form of functions to call the operating system file handling routines so that other files may be created or accessed. HartFORTH supports double length integers, string handling, cursor manipulation, graphics, random numbers, and floating point.
