Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive

Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova

The object of Flip-Flop is to change a row of ten X's to a row of 0's in a minimum number of moves. On each move you may flip any of the ten positions, but the catch is that flipping one letter may cause several others to flip too.

FLIST Allows Pagination A new software program from Faulk & Associates allows pagination on hard copy listings; date and time printing on listings; user data inserted in the heading on the listing; support for various printers including user defined line length and page length. FLIST is loaded as a temporary extension to either Level II BASIC, or Disk BASIC, and supports the new DOS 2.2 extensions to BASIC (including BASICR and recovery of BASIC programs already in memory). When running under Disk BASIC, FLIST adds a new BASIC command to DOS CALLED BASICF. This loads the FLIST program and adds the temporary interface to BASIC providing the new command FLIST to be useable from BASIC. BASIC itself is not modified and this product will not affect the performance of any BASIC programs. FLIST resides in high memory for either a 32K or 48K machine under DOS or Level II. The BASICF command is available only on version 2.2. The price is $19.95. Write Faulk & Associates Software, 2531 E. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton CA 92631.

FLY Written by Larry Kingsbury Documentation by Larry Kingsbury FLY is a game, buzzing and swarming with action! The scenario is a 'house' and you are the FLYswatter trying to rid the 'houses' of flies by swatting them. Up to ten 'houses' can be stored in memory or saved to disk or tape. You define each 'house' by determining the number of walls; this number also reflects a skill level from one to six. Choose to battle up to twenty flies. Game time can be set from one to sixty minutes or turn the clock off for an indefinite game. The object is is kill as many flies as possible. The program will display the number of flies killed and the time remaining and will save games in progress as well as high scores. Oh, we almost forgot to mention that 'flies' accumulate and sometimes block access to rooms, which can make traversing the house quite cumbersome. Warning: one guy nearly flunked calculus after becoming addicted to FLY. Fly is $19.95.

FM File Manager

fmfilmng.zip

45 LSI Catalog L-30-050 / L-30-051 FM - File Manager 8970 North 55th Street/P.O. Box 23956/Milwaukee, WI 53223/(414) 355-5454 1984 FM is the LDOS/TRSDOS 6 File Manager. With FM, file operations that would normally take many different steps can often be done in a single command. FM has four basic modes: Display, Kill, Move and Remove. The first three correspond roughly to the normal system commands of DIR, PURGE and BACKUP-by-class. The last mode is a combination of BACKUP-by-class and PURGE. When using REMOVE, files copied to the destination disk are then purged from the source disk. There are several major advantages to using FM. First, FM supports the use of more advanced wildcarding and parameter specifications than BACKUP or PURGE. With these features, files are easily grouped into meaningful classifications based on attributes, dates, names or even size. Comparisons can be made between two or even three drives. Also, FM is FAST! FM is usually at least fifty percent faster than BACKUP-by-class, and still does a full read verify. Lastly, FM does not abort automatically on a disk error. The I/O operation that caused the error may be reattempted if desired. One additional feature of FM is that it can be used to create a file containing the filenames that matched any particular set of criteria. In addition to the filespecs, arbitrary 'strings' may also be written to the file, preceding and following the selected filespec. This allows FM to 'write' JCL files to perform even more complex functions. FM should be considered a must for Hard Disk owners, and all users will find that FM is a tremendous help in day-to-day operation. For LDOS 5.1 order L-30-050, and order L-30-051 for TRSDOS 6 (LS-FM).
