Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive

Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.

Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova

Dunjonquest: Hellfire Warrior v2.0 [Disk Version][Set 1][MS 46000]

Automated Simulations

dhelf20a.zip

Announcing 'Hellfire Warrior', a fantastic new Dunjonquest computer game that's really not for everybody: Beginners are likely to be gobbled up in the first room and there are over 200 rooms on four levels 'Hellfire Warrior.' Really not for everybody: newcomers to Dunjonquest should begin with something easier. Here the monsters are deadlier, the labyrinths more difficult, the levels far more challenging But for the experienced Dunjonquest game player there are more command options, more potions (13l), more magical items (including-at last-magical armor), more special effects, more surprises. And an innkeeper, an armorer, apothecary and magic shops. In part a sequel to The Temple of Apshai, up until now the greatest of all the Dunjonquest games, Hellfire Warrior can also be played completely on its own. Now the character you've created, representing the highest level of role-playing to date, can explore the four new lower levels: Level 5-'The Lower Reaches of Apshai.' With the giant in- sects and other nasties that swarmed through the upper levels of Apshai. With rooms your hero can get into, but not out of. Level 6-'The Labyrinth.' The only exit is hidden within the Labyrinth. And man-eating monsters can thwart your hero. Level 7-'The Vault of the Dead.' And of the undead-skeletons, ghouls, mummies, specters invisible ghosts-lurking in the rooms, doors, secret passages, ready to reduce your hero to a pale shadow of himself. Permanently. Level 8-'The plains of Hell.' In an Underworld of lost souls and shades of dead, of dragons and fiery hounds, of bottomless pits and blasts of hellfire, our hero must rescue the beautiful warrior maiden lying in enchanted sleep within a wall of fire. And bring her past unbelievable dangers and monsters even Death itself to sun and air and life itself. Hellfire Warrior. The most exciting game yet from Automated Simulations, the leading producer of computer fantasy games. Guaranteed: If it's not the most exciting computer game you've played, return it within ten days for a complete refund. dhelf21d.zip

DUNJONQUEST The Keys of Acheron The mage spoke in low tones: 'Your first quest will take you to a world not far separated from our own. Once there, you must find the secret passage to the cave where The Dragon has secreted the key ' So begins your next adventure as a Hellfire Warrior. Four magical jewels, the keys, each in a different dimension, must be recovered from the rule of Kronus the Demon. One is guarded by The Dragon. Another by an evil cleric. Still another lies deep within a fiery volcano. The fourth is protected by Kronus himself. On your journey, you'll meet a friendly unicorn with a magical necklace to help you in your search. But to reach him, you must cross the dark and fearsome mandrake forest. Other monsters inhabit the dim and frightful places through which you must pass to reach the four keys. But time is short and fame and fortune drive you onward to the end of your quest. The Keys of Acheron is an expansion dunjon for Hellfire Warrior. You must have Hellfire Warrior to play.

dmorl10d.zip

DUNJONQUEST Morloc's Tower Morloc, the malevolent magic user, has sworn to level the city of Hagedorn by tonight, upon the rise of the new moon. Unless you-Brian Hammerhand-can fulfill your quest, none of the inhabitants of the town, pursued by the awesome and evil power of the wizard, will live to see the next sunrise. Morloc commands the fire that burns the soul and a host of evil and inhuman servitors, from a pack of ravenous hounds to a fiery salamander (a species of corporeal fire elemental) and worse. The foul warlock rests secure in his tower, but the seeds of his destruction are sown therein. Can you, as Brian Hammerhand, puzzle out the workings of Morloc's possessions and so use them against their master? Will you slay the archvillain and save the fair maid Imelda for better than roasting in a fireball? In Morloc's Tower, you'll find three kinds of rings, a magic sword, two amulets, a half a dozen other treasures, 30 rooms, 18 real-time command options, and a dozen types of monsters, including crafty old Morloc himself. Morloc's Tower is a fascinating game that's easy to learn but a real challenge to master-a challenge of wit and the powers of deduction, where you should always expect the unexpected. Even after you've figured out all of the puzzles (or think you have), you'll play again and again to improve your score. But if the puzzle should prove too tough, the Book of Lore offers hints to help you find the solution. Be warned: the optimal solution will prove to be even more elusive than the mad wizard!

Dunjonquest: Temple of Aphshai and Hellfire Warrior

Automated Simulations

dnjaphhw.zip

You may spend days, weeks, months the rest of your life striking at the forces of evil, or running from them, or calling on powers you can never completely understand. Always, always demonstrating in varying degrees your strength, constitution, dexterity, intelligence, intuition, the force of your ego. Did you read about the Dungeonmaster who became so enchanted playing a real life version of Dungeons and Dragons that he disappeared for a month? You'll be able to hold on to reality just a little better when you play the Dunjonquest computer version, the greatest of all the role-playing fantasies. But don't bet on it. Sit at your computer. You're the hero. Enter the Dunjonquest 'Temple of Apshai' and into the greatest fantasy adventure you've ever experienced. The Temple has over 200 rooms and catacombs in which lurk more than 30 kinds of monsters and beasts ready to do you in-in real time-before you can reach any of the 70 or so treasures waiting for the hero. You may spend days, weeks, months the rest of your life striking at the forces of evil, or running from them, or calling on powers you can never completely understand. Always, always demonstrating in varying degrees your strength, constitution, dexterity, intelligence, intuition, the force of your ego. Unlike chess or bridge or monopoly, this role-playing game-like other good role-playing games-is an experience rather than a game: it is not played so much as it's lived or experienced. Your alter ego goes forth into the world of demons and darkness, dragons and dwarves. Your character will do whatever you want him (or her or it) to do. Actual photo of screen during a Dunjonquest game. In Room 3 in the Temple of Apshai, our hero observes two treasures unattended by dragons, monsters or demons for the moment. He is completely free of wounds; he is not at all fatigued. He carries 44 pounds of armor and 19 arrows in his quiver. He has already slain five demons. Will he capture the treasures before moving on or before the forces of darkness intercept him? 'The Temple ' comes complete with a superbly illustrated 56-page rule book and cassette program, designed to operate with the Level II 16K TRS 80, the PET 32K or the Apple II 48K (Applesoft) computer. Only $24.95 complete, including shipping and handling on orders placed within the next 30 days. (Apple or TRS 80 disk available for $29.95). Dunjonquest's 'The Temple of Apshai' is guaranteed to be the best version of Dungeons and Dragons/ Dragons and Dungeons. DUNZHIN by Randall Don Masteller Dunzhin is Med Systems' first adventure/role playing game. Written by Randall Masteller, author of several non-computer D&D-type games, it is the first adventure/role playing game to combine fast, 'from above' graphics, FAST response time, and COMPLETE computer implementation. There are no 'rule books' to consult, and no waiting for the computer to 'think'. Dunzhin places you in a huge dungeon of many levels. There are many treasures, but only one, deep in a hidden chamber, will win the game for you. Every game is different, but you can save a game in progress. You can also save the character you become as you gain experience in battling the goblins and demons waiting around every corner. Dynabase DatabaseMISSING

Dynacomp

DYNABASE DATABASE PROGRAM (TRS-80, CP/M, and IBM only) The DYNABASE DATABASE PROGRAM (DDP) is an easy-to-use database package which may be configured by the user. The program utilizes sequential access techniques to eliminate the requirements of setting limits on the size of any field, and to make the most efficient use of available disk space. The program functions have been structured around the file access method to provide the least amount of delay. In operation, file size is limited only by available disk space, and there are no artificial restrictions on the length of text the user may enter into any field of a record. DDP may be configured to contain up to 10 text fields plus up to 10 numeric fields. Each field is labelled by the user. A wide range of options is provided for printing out the database during the print, sort, search, and evaluation operations. Eleven 'canned' printout formats are provided, along with a custom printout set-up option. The custom printout function allows the user to set up a customized printout format utilizing up to 255 columns. The set-up procedure also supports control code sequences to select printer density, font, etc. Once established a printout configuration may be saved to disk for future use as a printout configuration source. Printout routines include page control, page numbering, dating, source file name, and user heading. The sort command allows the user to sort the data file according to any text or numeric field. The sort may be written to a target file, or may be used for print out. The search command provides a wide variety of options for searching the data file. Results of the search may be sent to a target file, or the search may be printed out. The user can set up the 'match' conditions (3 text, 2 numeric), or may select a range search. Any number of fields may be selected for searching, and up to 10 keywords may be entered for matching. Both the text and numeric fields are searchable. A file evaluation command provides a math capability for the numeric fields of a file. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are supported. (Beginning to sound like Visicale!) The user may operate on and store the results in any of the numeric fields of the file. A constant may be substituted for one of the operands, and an option to totalize all the resultants of the file is also provided. The standard add, subtract, multiply and divide functions are provided, along with the trigonometric, logarithmic and exponential operators. DDP also permits bargraphs to be printed, as well as mailing labels (e.g., 1-up). DDP is user-friendly. All input data is requested by name, and data verification is required before the data is written to disk. The program is written to reject out-of-range or nonsense inputs, and error-trapping is provided to prevent data loss due to system errors. Easy to use editing features are also provided. Price: $49.95 Diskette

This Could Be The Handiest Program You Own! By Ken Knecht Dynamic Data Base A data base manager is a general purpose file management program that can be set up for different uses. This could be the handiest program you own! You specify the number of items in the file, whether they are numerical or alphanumeric and how long each item is, and the program creates the file, receives your data, sorts it, searches for information, stores and retrieves from disk, and will even perform arithmetic with data items. Very easy to learn and use, yet you can use it for mailing lists, hobby collectors, inventory, appointments, accounting, work organizing, radio logbook, billing records, telephone numbers, or a thousand other uses! Manual and 3 programs in basic on disk for 32K or large systems with one or more drives only $39.95 TSE The Software Exchange 6 South Street, Box 68, Milford, NH 03055 603-673-5144
