Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive
Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.
Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova

Digital FilterMISSING
DIGITAL FILTER (available for all computers) DIGITAL FILTER is a comprehensive data processing program which permits the user to design his own filter function or choose from a menu of filter forms. The filter forms are subsequently converted into non-recursive convolution coefficients which permit rapid data processing. In the explicit design mode, the shape of the frequency transfer function is specified by directly entering points along the desired filter curve. In the menu mode, ideal low pass, high pass and bandpass filters may be approximated to varying degrees according to the number of points used in the calculation. These filters may optionally also be smoothed with a Hanning function. In addition, multi-stage Butterworth filters may be selected. Features of DIGITAL FILTER include plotting of the data before and after filtering, as well as display of the chosen filter functions. Also included are convenient data storage, retrieval, and editing procedures. The format of the data storage is consistent with that used by REGRESSION I, REGRESSION II, TRANSFER FUNCTION ANALYZER, and HARMONIC ANALYZER. This permits the user to selectively filter data before processing by any of the above programs. DIGITAL FILTER is extremely well documented with a 48 page manual which carefully describes the operation of the program as well as the supporting theory. The manual is sufficiently complete that it can be used in conjunction with the software to teach many of the principles involved in digital filtering. Requires at least 16K of program memory (Atari version requires at least 24K). Price: $49.95 Cassette $53.95 Diskette $56.45 8 inch CP/M Disk Sample display (Atari):

Direction FinderMISSING
DIRECTION FINDER FOR PILOTS, TRAVELLERS AND THE SIMPLY CURIOUS Although this program probably will have most appeal for pilots and travellers, it also has an educational content for the youngsters and those interested in geography. For two stated points it will give the following information: . Distance in nautical miles (knots.) . Distance in statute miles. Distance in kilometres. The compass bearing from the one to the other expressed in degrees. The approximate compass direction - South West, North East etc. A graphical representation of the compass rose with the positions indicated. The two points may be entered in two ways. Firstly, stored in data lines are the latitudes and longitudes of over 125 major cities in the world. With these cities it is only necessary to enter their names to obtain the information. For smaller towns you may enter the latitude and longitude and the same information will be provided. Additional features are: . Distances and bearings plus the time taken. Table of distances and times on a multi leg voyage. Bearing, speed and time taken, corrected for wind. A list of the cities and their data on file. Although we have emphasised the global aspects of this program, we should also say that it will be of use to car travellers in England as well. A large number of the cities or towns on file are in the British Isles, even John O'Groats and Landsend! The accuracy of the program is good although some errors are bound to creep in, due to the machine itself.
