Help categorize the TRS-80 software archive
Nearly 30,000 programs, and almost none of them say what kind of program they are. Mark whatever you recognize. Pick as many words as fit — a game that teaches arithmetic is Game, Math, Education — then send the page. Everything is reviewed by hand before it goes anywhere near the archive, so a best guess is worth more than a blank.
Important Note: Do not do multiple entries of the same program. If you flag Super Nova by Big Five once, all Super Nova by Big Five entries will get updated. No need to waste your time flagging each Super Nova
Showing the whole archive, including programs already categorized.

Annuity [Financial Planning]MISSING
Retirement Plan Annuity ($20) from Recreational Mathemagical Software is a financial planning program that runs on Models III, 4/4P, and IBM PC compatibles, including the Tandy models. The program helps you predict annuity income at any point in the future. You can specify savings amounts for any number of periods per year and use two interest rates for range planning. With Annuity, you have the options of varying the payment amount and looking at periods with no payments. In addition, the program sends answers to the screen, the printer, or both. For more details, contact Recreational Mathemagical Software, 129 Carol Drive, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, 717-586-2784.

AnovaMISSING
DYNACOMP ANOVA Price: $39.95 Cassette/$43.95 Diskette In the past the ANOVA (analysis of variance) procedure has been limited to the large mainframe computers. Now DYNACOMP has brought the power of this method to small systems. For those conversant with ANOVA, the DYNACOMP software package includes the 1-way, 2-way and N-way procedures. Also provided are the Yates 2K-P factorial designs. For those unfamiliar with ANOVA, do not worry. The accompanying documentation was written in a tutorial fashion (by a professor in the subject) and serves as an excellent introduction to the subject. Accompanying ANOVA is a support program for building the data base. Included are several convenient features including data editing, deleting and appending.

AUTOMATIC DENSITY RECOGNITION for Newdos/80 Version 2.0 The evolving line of Apparat operating systems has constantly met with customer approval. However, with the advent of double density, many N/80 V2.0 owners were chagrined by the lack of Automatic Density Recognition -- the capability to recognize both single and double density diskettes. Both can be online at the same time, but we have to reconfigure the PDRIVE parameters as we change density. That is no longer a problem. Headaches gone! DDSD/CMD was designed by Allan J. Domuret, noted author for many popular computer magazines. DDSD is no more complicated than just executing it from DOS READY. No disk ZAPS of any kind are required. DDSD can even be an 'AUTO' file. This program functions with all TRS-80 DOS systems and will not adversely affect fast CPU clock systems. DDSD will load itself at top of available memory, respecting any and all programs present. DDSD is compatible with both Mods I and III. DDSD is available only on cassette, but will easily convert to a disk file by use of LMOFFSET, a utility available to any NEWDOS owner. The general availability of this utility is exciting news for all N/80 V2 persons!! Even more exciting is the price: $19.95, less than half the price of similar utilities. And that's not all For a limited time, DDSD can be yours for just $10 -- if you subscribe to TAS at the same time. Twelve issues are $24, DDSD is $10. For maximum value, our special FLY offer is still available ($45 for 24 issues, FLY is free). There is no better time to check out this journal, so do it now! TAS focuses exclusively on the Mods I and III. DDSD/CMD, alone, is $19.95 plus shipping.

APL*Plus/80 System v2.2
aplpl22a.zip
A World Of Communications With The APL PLUS/80 System. Would you like your TRS-80 Model III to communicate with other TRS-80s? With remote databases? Mainframes? With STSC's APL PLUS/80 Application Development System, your TRS-80 can do it! Think of the benefits to you or to your clients when you make your TRS-80 part of a worldwide communications network. You'll be able to access and transmit data, control local devices (such as printers and plotters), and communicate with other TRS-80 users. And since the APL PLUS/80 System is compatible with our APL PLUS systems for the VAX minicomputer series and IBM mainframes, it's easy to exchange, download, or upload applications between them. The APL PLUS/80 System has a built-in terminal emulator, either for APL or for ASCII, ready for use at the touch of a key. Another touch of the key and you're back to using your TRS-80 as an independent computer in the same APL environment-without losing the connection to the remote host! Through one keyboard, you control both machines in turn. Or use APL program-controlled communication to create your own 'smart' terminal. Challenge to BASIC Develop a subroutine to group and total unordered costs by job number. The result is a table showing the total cost for each active job, in ascending job order, formatted as a report. Even if this kind of task is not among the problems you deal with, APL's ability to represent concise solutions can save you programming time and effort. There's more. Our APL allows you to read and write TRSDOS files (such as VisiCalc files) without leaving APL, even under program control. And you can direct arbitrary data from APL to the parallel port or RS232 port under APL program control. APL PLUS/80 - A Complete Application Development System Would you like to have your TRS-80 reach out to the world beyond your desktop? Would you like to develop and deliver solutions faster and better for yourself or for your clients? Then you need APL PLUS/80 with system features that extend the power and productivity of the APL language, bringing our proprietary enhancements to your TRS-80 Model III. complete APL language and system features, upwards compatible with our mainframe systems . powerful output formatter . array-oriented file system . access to regular TRSDOS or LDOS files and subroutines . traditional APL symbols or mnemonic keywords . utility program libraries . the most complete set of documentation on the market. APL by Phelps Gates Now a high-level, scientific programming language for the home computer that doesn't cost $200 or $300. The power of this language is in its strong mathematical operations, especially with regard to matrices and vectors. Programs requiring matrix multiplication or other matrix problem solving that would require hours of programming time in BASIC are solved quickly and with minimal effort in APL. To aid in learning APL, lessons are included on the disk. Starting from the basics, you are brought step by step through the various programming techniques involved with APL. These lessons act as a tutor which will have you 'talking APL' in no time. Also available is the book, 'APL: An Interactive Approach,' which reinforces many of the examples given in the lessons and provides additional insight into APL programming. FEATURES APL-80 on disk contains the following features: )SAVE and )LOAD workspace on disk; )COPY other workspaces into current ones; Return to DOS for directory or commands without losing your workspace; Send output to lineprinter; Five workspaces of lessons included; Sequential and random files; 15 digit precision; Monadic and dyadic transposition; Easy editing within FUNCTION lines; Latent expression (FUNCTION can 'come up running' when loaded); Tracing of function execution; Real-time clock; User-control of random link; Workspace is 25587 bytes (in 48K machine); Arrays may have up to 63 dimensions. COMMANDS APL-80 APL-80 supports the following commands; Absolute value, add, and, assign, branch, catenate, ceiling, chr$/asc, circular, combinatorial, comment, compress, deal, decode, divide, drop, encode, equal, expand, exponential, factorial, floor, format, grade down, grade up, greater, greater/equal, index generator, indexing, index of, inner product, label, less, less/equal, logarithm, maximum, member, minimum, multiply, nand, negate, nor, not, not equal, or, outer product, peek, poke, quad, quote quad, random, ravel, reciprocal, reduction, reshape, residue, reverse, rotate, scan, shape, sign, system, subtract, take, transposition. SPECIFICATIONS Minimum system requirements: 32K disk system (48K recommended) includes APL-80, Five workshapes of lessons, instruction manual. Price $39.95 on disk Reduced feature: 16K Level II tape version, no lessons. Transpositions, format, and inner product not implemented. Reduced domain for some functions, 6 digit accuracy. Price $14.95 on cassette APL: An Interactive Approach Price $16.95 LIMITATIONS Due to the absence of the special APL character set on the TRS-80, APL-80 uses shifted letters to represent the various APL characters. In addition to the keyboard limitations, lamination, domino, and matrix inverse are not implemented but can be derived with user-defined functions. Multiple specifications must be split into two statements unless the left-hand assignment is to a quad. This also applies to implied multiple specifications. Reduction and reshape (p) are not permitted for empty arguments; the argument of add/drop may not be scalar; empty indices are not permitted. A quad (q) can't be typed in response to a quad (nor can the name of a function which itself gets input from a quad). Quote-quad (m) is permitted. No more than 32 user functions can be defined in a single workspace and a function may not contain more than 255 lines. A comment (c) must occupy a separate line: a comment can't follow a function statement on the same line. In the tape version, arrays are limited to five (5) dimensions. 6 South St., Milford, N.H. 03055 ORDER TOLL FREE: 1-800-258-1790 (in NH call 673-5144)
